Getting off a plane into 6 inches of snow can really suck, especially when you were basking in 85 degree sunny weather for the past week! I made sure to keep my mind warm by not falling into a depressive rut by planning a couple of low key staycation activities. They are super simple, low cost and as important, not extremely taxing or time consuming.
Luckily, I scored some tickets for my friend and I to the Cat and Nat Fun Show right here in NY. They are two fun, positive moms who do not hold back on all that comes with motherhood. This is exactly what my friend and I can use after a week in Universal with two 13-year-old boys (though Donna and I are not weak at heart when it comes to the rides. We both went on every flipping rollercoasters with these boys).
Several of my go to staycaytion activities are…
1. Manicure Pedicure
2. Movie and wine night with a great smelling candle
3. Massage
4. Specialty exercise class… Yoga, Pilates or whatever floats your boat
5. Concert
6. Schedule a lunch with friends
7. Take kids out to their favorite restaurants
8. Be a tourist and not a local.
a. We live in the outer boroughs of NYC and can easily take for granted our location. That said, we are always blown away by what our out of town friends show us when they are in town. Sign up for a tour and I am certain you will see or go to a place that you may have never known about and walk away from it wowed.
