The Martha Stewart article from Travel and Leisure has inspired me to write this post on my favorite travel technology accessories – items you want to make sure are set up in your carry-on bag. I have linked most of the items below and you can click here to reach my Amazon store.
My go-to technology items are:
- Exterior Battery– there is nothing worse than your flight being delayed and your phone goes dead. Don’t be a prisoner to the airport’s charging station (or that singular outlet that 12 people are clamoring for). It’s bad enough you are delayed – you don’t want to have to hover around that charging station or outlet. An exterior battery provides you with the freedom to stroll the stores in the airport without worrying if your phone is going to get stolen or miss a call. It is crucial that you get a good one that has more than one port and can provide you with the power to charge a computer and a phone with more left over. Take it from me, settling on a $20 charger is not what you want if you travel with multiple items – make the investment. I will link my favorite charger.
- Extra charging cord- I am always in search of a lightning cord, aka apple charging cord because my lovely kids steal mine. You can be certain if you are traveling with teens that you will be asked for one. No need to sacrifice your cord if you have extras and even more important, to not pay the high costs inside the airport.
- Noise Cancelling Headphones– This is one item I do not leave behind. I have been the mom on a plane with an unruly child so I get it. In addition, I have all the sympathy for the families traveling with a cranky baby however I just do not want to hear it. In addition, I do not like socializing on the flight and I personally feel the over the ear headphones are a universal sign for DO NOT DISTURB. More importantly, I do not want to listen to the social folk’s conversations on the plane. This is a personal preference hence please save the judgment.
- Multi Charger Adapter– This will come in handy if you forgot a charger and have multiple items with different adapters. I forgot my headphone charger and this bad boy saved me.
- Download movies, TV shows, podcasts, etc in advance – be prepared and do not rely on airport wifi to do this
- Headphone wires – there may actually be a movie playing on the plane’s system that you want to watch
- Bluetooth speaker– Amazon offers a great selection and ours is waterproof so we take it to the beach or enjoy by the pool.
- Earpods- I feel earpods are the international sign for Hello, I am willing to be interrupted so you can approach me for a conversation. This is exactly why I do not wear them on a plane. That said, they are great for listening to a podcast or your favorite Spotify playlist by the pool.
- Update Spotify playlist- There is nothing worse than not having a suitable playlist if using a wireless speaker in public.
- PODCAST- If you do not know about the podcast you are missing out. There is everything from thrilling mysteries to experts spilling their tea. I will list a sample of my favs.
- Chalene Johnson- Build your Tribe
- Perez Hilton
- Dr. Death
- Dear John
- Serial
- Update audible with books I would like to listen to. I prefer to listen to my books. If you are a prime memeber you have access to free downloads
- Travel alarm clock – if you are on business, it might be good to have one. Doug always has it in his briefcase as he doesn’t trust the wake-up calls, the in-room alarm clock and a just in case against his phone’s alarm.
Obviously this is not an extensive list but my key items that I want with me. I seldom need to tweak what I am bringing, just the content. Your trip, business or pleasure, should be as comfortable as possible.
Did I miss anything that you feel is a go to? Let me know – as well as any electronic drama you may have encountered
