Traveling in Emirates Business Class or First Class is the epitome of luxury, and while it may seem like a costly endeavor, there are ways to upgrade without breaking the bank. As a direct flight from New York to Dubai is a priority for me and my family, we often choose Emirates for our travel. Here are a few tips and tricks that I’ve learned to help score an upgrade without breaking the bank.
Emirates Skywards: As a member of Emirates’ loyalty program, you can use your Skywards Miles to upgrade your flight to Business Class. The number of Miles required will vary depending on the route and class of travel, but you can check the required Miles on the Emirates website. To upgrade your flight, simply log in to your account and select the “upgrade” option when booking your flight.
Download the Emirates Skywards App: The Emirates Skywards app allows you to check for discounted business class upgrades prior to your flight. Make sure every family member downloads the app as well. To do so, log in to the app with your Skywards account information, search for your upcoming flight, and select the “Upgrade” option. You will then be able to view available upgrade options and prices. It’s important to note that upgrades are subject to availability and terms and conditions. Additionally, you can only upgrade a flight booked on emirates.com or through a travel agent, also you need to have sufficient Skywards miles in your account to pay for the upgrade. There is a cash upgrade option as well.
Airline Partner Rewards: If you’re a member of another airline’s loyalty program, you may be able to use your rewards to upgrade your flight on Emirates. For example, if you’re a member of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, you can use your Qantas Points to upgrade your Emirates flight. Be sure to check the rewards program of your preferred airline to see if this option is available to you.
On-Flight Upgrades: If you’re already booked on an Emirates flight, you may be able to upgrade your seat to Business Class while on board. This option is subject to availability and the discretion of the flight crew, so it’s best to inquire when you check in or board your flight.
Upgrading to Business Class or First Class on Emirates doesn’t have to be an expensive endeavor. With a little bit of planning and flexibility, you can score an upgrade without breaking the bank. So, be sure to check the app frequently, have every family member open an individual Emirates Skywards account, and consider asking for an upgrade while on the flight. Happy travels!
